What You Really Need for Your Newborn

Hey, everybody, with the recent birth of my second grandchild Cannon Wilder, several of you asked for links to items. Quite honestly, I am clueless when it comes to the newest gadgets and gizmos for infants. My youngest is almost 20! Therefore, I recruited my daughter Lexi to put together baby items she has found truly useful. Of course, with Harlow, her first child (and the first grandchild),  she had one of everything. Some of those items (like the mamaRoo Baby Swing) did not stick around for Cannon because she, personally, did not find them all that useful. For both Harlow and Cannon, Lexi wanted a crib that grew with the baby and the 3-in-1 convertible crib does just that. It also comes in several color choices 3-in-1 convertible crib.

The USA map for Cannon’s room also doubles as a play mat. These mats also come in world maps and many shapes and sizes.

Besides the map and adding a new jute rug from Hearth and Hand with Magnolia, the decor in Cannon’s room is comprised of  hand-me-downs, like this vintage dresser (found at a garage sale along with the mirror). By painting the dresser and adding some hardware, it becomes the perfect changing table.

With so many products on the market for babies, it’s hard to distinguish between what’s truly beneficial and what is not. Of course, all parents and babies are different and have their own preferences. These are a few of the things my daughter Lexi loved with Harlow and now uses with Cannon. Hopefully, you find this list helpful.

Thanks a lot, Sandi and Shaila. Very informative guide for all new parents. You have represented everything so nicely. By the way, can you tell me why some babies don’t like to swing whereas most of them love to be in the swing?

Thank you so much. I have no clue as to why some babies like it and some don’t. It’s interesting though!
