Hello friends! Today, we are talking about how to decorate a bedroom for the holidays. I can’t think of anything more special than seeing through a child’s eyes the joy Christmas and the holidays bring. In December 2017, we celebrated the birth of our first grandchild just 4 days before Christmas. With Harlow’s first birthday coming up, and the family gathering at my house for the holidays, I wanted to make her bedroom feel like a winter wonderland.
Harlow’s Winter Wonderland
After finding the cutest animal ornaments at West Elm, I had a vision and a plan for making Harlow’s room feel magical. First of all, I knew I wanted to decorate a room for the holidays without spending a lot of money. With just a few items: felt animal ornaments, a faux-fur stocking, a blush throw, a whimsical pillow, a glitter leaves wreath, and a metal leaf garland, all items purchased at West Elm, I was able to achieve the look I wanted.
This brushed tip faux fur stocking from West Elm is the perfect size and length to hang from the ladder. Once I had the stocking, I knew I needed a cute plush toy to add to it, and this unique bear stuffed animal for less than $20 fits perfectly!
Holiday Inspiration
How crazy is it that this room’s holiday inspiration came from a simple felt ornament? Harlow loves puppies and dogs. When I decided to deck out her room for the holidays, I needed some fun ornaments for her tree. This spotted dog ornament is not only handmade in Nepal, but it is also a Fair Trade Certified product, meaning artisans earn a premium for each piece made–I love that! Once I purchased the spotted dog felt ornament, I bought his pal, this beagle. The tiny glass ornaments are vintage-inspired and come in a set of 20. The Shiny Brite Ornaments, made from beautifully colored glass and pastel-painted stripes, are definitely a keepsake.
Next, I added these bottle brush animal ornaments as well. There are four different animals to choose from!
Besides cute ornaments, I wanted Harlow’s room surrounded by happy colors! This Christina Lundsteen (a Danish deisgner) pillow is the perfect addition to her bed. With so many whimsical colors to choose from, I had a difficult time deciding on my favorite. The extra soft and fluffy long-pile faux fur throw is brushed with a subtle color contrast for added dimension. I love the blush champagne color!
For an added touch of sparkle, the all-over glitter leaf wreath may just stay up year-round!
Handcrafted bottle brush trees sit atop the dresser. Do you see the light bronze mercury glass initial ornament at the top of the tree?
“H” is for Harlow.
Thank you, West Elm, for making it so easy to turn Harlow’s bedroom into a winter wonderland!
West Elm Holiday Decor
Now that you have seen the holiday bedroom, let me take you inside my living room. Of course, Sandi and I have always loved West Elm! We each have West Elm sofas in our homes. After searching for over a year, I decided on the Harmony down-filled 2 piece chaise sectional in distressed velvet taupe. To say that my family loves the comfort and functionality of this purchase is an understatement!
I have only just begun to decorate my living room for the holidays, but let me share a few of my favorite West Elm items: the oversized vase filled with holiday greenery gives an added dimension; the cozy herringbone soft touch throw makes the perfect holiday gift; and finally, the pillows add a splash of abstract expressionism with their modern design.
I hope you enjoyed how I utilized my favorite West Elm holiday pieces in my home this year! Happy decorating and happy holidays to you and your family.
Newby to your insta acct! Love!!❤️

Thank you for following us!
My daughter would go wt her father for the weekend close to Christmas and I would decorate her corner of the room. We lived wt my parents and shared a room. One year she was really into lime green, hot pink, and bright blue so i ran with those colors. She came home to the most obnoxious white tree (4ft) wt white lights and ornaments wt all those colors. BONUS THEY ALL GLITTERED. She was so excited she couldn’t speak. It was the best. Now she’s 20 and trash talks my hallmark movies ?. But by God we are buying a tree Thanksgiving night or she flips.
Courtney,
I love it! It sounds like the perfect start to the holiday season!
