One of the questions I receive the most is about the paint colors in my house. For me, painting is the quickest, most inexpensive way to update a room, if you do it yourself. I also realize picking the perfect white paint color is harder than it seems. When I decided I was repainting my living room (for the fourth time in two years), I never would have thought picking a white paint color would be so hard. I finally narrowed it down to 5 colors and I bought samples of each. I was so excited to get home and paint a small section of my wall to see which one I liked best. To my disappointment, they all looked alike and I didn't know which one I was going to choose. I ended up leaving the sample areas there for a few days and looked at them during different times of the day to see how the paint colors changed, depending on lighting, before I made my decision. Sometimes, picking a paint color is easy and you know the one right away; other times, it may take longer to make the final decision. No matter what, remind yourself it's just paint and it can easily be changed.
For now, these are the current paint colors in my home:
Wall color in all rooms, including living room, kitchen, and my daughter and son's room: Sherwin Williams Eider White
Dining Room planked wall: Sherwin Williams Iron Ore
Kitchen Cabinets: Sherwin Williams Pure White
Laundry Room Cabinets: Sherwin Williams Peppercorn
Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Extra White
Master Bedroom: Sherwin Williams Snowbound
Entry: Sherwin Williams Snowbound
French doors: Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black

Love all your paint choices! Your home is lovely! It’s also fun to hear stories from fellow paint junkies! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I love how painting can change the look and feel of a room.
I just love the paint schemes. First instance when you bring in the sun the colors change automatically. Then the clouds come and then another color appears on the walls. I can just watch the changing of the colors all day and not go to work. Thank you Sandi for your terrific ideas. I don’t know what I would do without your expert advice.
Thank you so much. That is so nice of you to say!
You have a beautiful home! Do you keep your ceiling the same color, and what color do you use?
Thank you so much! I did in the living room and I would have in the bedrooms if I wasn’t lazy and decided not to repaint my ceilings. I keep saying I’m going to repaint my ceilings the same color as my walls but that still hasn’t happened!
Hi Sandi! Love you guys by the way! What finish did you do on the walls and on the trim? I’m doing my daughters nursery eider white and extra white trim. Did you do eggshell, matte, etc for walls and satin or gloss for trim? Any suggestions?!
Thanks!
Your home is so beautiful!! Thank you for posting your paint colors. What color did you use to paint the ceilings in your home?
Erin,
Thank You! In my living room, I painted it the same as my walls. In the other rooms, I’m not sure what the color is and I wish I would have painted them the same color as my walls but I was too lazy and didn’t do it.
Sandi
Tracey,
Hi! Thank you for following us and that’s a great question! I used eggshell or Satin on everything in my house, including my trim. On the black wall, I used flat paint.

I love this room! I keep going back to it and really want to get this same look! Question, what dresser would u recommend in this room if another dresser is needed in addition to the two side tables? Same or different?
Thank you!!!
Hi,
Thank you so much. Which room are you talking about? I’ll assume the bedroom but if that isn’t right let me know and I’ll let you know my thoughts on the living room :). I, personally, would get something different but I would make sure it had the same lines or same color so it would tie in together. I also think it would depend on the layout of the room. If you are wanting the room to have a symmetrical look then the matching dresser would look nice. I rarely know what I’m wanting until I find it and then I just know when I see it. I don’t think there is a wrong way though!
Best,
Sandi
Thanks Sandi! Perfect advice 🙂

Your house looks beautiful. Exactly the look I’m going for. Did you paint all your interior doors black or just the French doors? I’ve been toying with this idea for a year now. I am going to totally and completely repaint my interior (walls, trim, doors and ceilings). Paint is so easy but also such a hard decision. Lol. At one point I thought of doing all my interior doors black but think I might just do the 2 sets of French doors. I love the look. Any suggestions?
Tobi,
Thank you. I have only painted my French doors black to far. I have thought about painting the other doors as well, but I like the crispness of the white. Start with painting your French doors. I bet you will love it! Then, go from there. Good luck!
Hello,
On the bedroom you did snowbound in, what color trim did you do? Im trying to find a white on white for exterior and love snowbound but am having a hard time finding a white that doesnt look blue for trim!
Hi Denise! We both use Sherwin Williams Pure White on our trim. It’s a a great white that goes with pretty much any paint color.
