Teen Girl’s Bedroom Before & After

Today, I am finally doing a reveal of my daughter Libby’s room. You will NOT believe this teen girl’s bedroom before and after. Get the details on how we transformed our teenage daughter’s room into a modern boho retreat.

Libby’s Bedroom Before

Just to be clear–the picture above is from the previous owners! Originally, her room was designed to be a shared space. So the large bedroom had more than enough space for our young daughter. Obviously, the first thing we did was paint the walls Sherwin Williams Eider White to provide a neutral backdrop.

Libby was only 11 years old when we moved into the house. Although I did ask her opinion, I made many of the decorating decisions. As she got older, she had more specific requests and started to develop her own design style.

Although her modern farmhouse room served her for many years, she was ready for a change. Since I love decor changes, I was ready for a room refresh too. I guess she comes by it honestly.

Big Girl Bedroom

One of the easiest ways to add interest to a space is with wallpaper. Shalia and I both love it. This fun, floral print added instant personality to Libby’s room.

Along with the new wallpaper, we pulled up the old carpet and added wood floors. We also added updated lighting, window treatments, and metal canopy bed.

We added accents of pink throughout the room. It was definitely more of a boho vibe and we kept this basic footprint for awhile. But nothing in my house is permanent and her room is no exception.

Modern Bohemian Bedroom

Libby is 17 and a junior in High School now. So for this latest transformation, she definitely wanted more creative input. As you can see from the photo above, she was so happy with the results.

The statement piece in Libby’s bedroom is the Curved Rattan Bed by Anthropologie. We designed the room around it. The Tufted Makers Quilt is from there, as well.

When I look through old pictures it amazes me how much Libby’s room has changed!
