We are sharing our favorite holiday decor with you today from this week’s LIKEtoKNOW.it.home Instagram takeover. If you followed along with us in stories, you got a glimpse inside both of our homes. They are already decked out for Christmas. If you missed it, don’t fret! We are doing a round-up for you today of all of the holiday items we featured during the takeover.

Sandi’s Holiday Decor

In Sandi’s house, she has an eat-in kitchen that she and Rob have completely redone. They spend so much time there because her family LOVES to eat! Sandi absolutely loves decorating for the holidays and one of her favorite things to decorate with is her MacKenzie-Childs dishes.

They are on backorder until November 26th but they are worth the wait! Each plate is handmade and so special. The classic black and white check pattern will never go out of style!

She plans on passing down to her daughter, Libby, one day. She mixed them with Target dishes for the perfect holiday tablescape.

Simple Holiday Centerpiece
For this easy holiday centerpiece idea, Sandi mixed real tree clippings with faux garland, then added inexpensive candlesticks and pinecones. It’s simple and inexpensive. That’s our kind of decor!
Living Room

This small console table from Target is a perfect size and you can’t beat the price of $100.00! It is fun to decorate seasonally, especially Christmas!

Sandi keeps the Malta Lanterns from Pottery Barn out year-round and decorates them seasonally. Originally, she had these lanterns outside, but when she started decorating for Christmas, she brought them inside. In the small one, she puts battery operated candles. This year, she also added some inexpensive bottle brush trees with some fairy lights purchased from Amazon.

Hope this gives you a little entry table inspiration!

Master Bedroom

Shalia’s living room fireplace makeover was the inspiration for one of Sandi’s favorite DIY projects to date! Rob and Sandi added this modern electric fireplace in their master bedroom. Their son Jonothan even helped Rob with the electric. Projects in the home are truly a family affair.

Sandi loves decorating her bedroom for Christmas and always puts up a tree. This year, she was so excited about decorating her new fireplace. Originally, she decorated it with a garland she had for a long time, but we moved it to Libby’s room.

So, she redecorated her mantel and loves the new look! Her old garland is already sold out but the stockings and the new garland are still available.
Christmas Trees: Flocked or Natural?

One of the questions that Sandi gets asked frequently is about the tree in the master bedroom. It isn’t flocked. The main thing that she would tell you about a natural style tree vs. a flocked tree is that you have to add more decorations to get that “full” look that she and Shalia both love. Sandi loves to use picks to get her tree looking its festive best!

Libby’s Room

Libby’s room is still one of Sandi’s favorite spaces in her home. The recently updated her space and created a modern bohemian bedroom. Her Curved Rattan Bed from Anthropologie gets a simple holiday update from a faux garland. She’s using a garland they’ve had for years with fairy lights to decorate her headboard.

Shalia’s Holiday Decor
Christmas is Shalia’s favorite holiday. The 10′ King of Christmas slim flocked tree is beautiful with or without decorations. It takes her a couple of weeks to get it perfect, but the show-stopping results are certainly worth it. She uses a combination of picks and ribbon to create a full tree.
O Christmas Tree!

You won’t find any handmade ornaments on this empty-nester’s tree. When each of Shalia’s 3 children moved out of the house, she gifted them with their collection of ornaments from their childhood. Although she claims that Cale still has his in a box somewhere in the attic.
This gave her a clean slate (and free reign!) to design the tree of her dreams. These days, she’s all about creating a winter wonderland for her grandkids, Harlow, and Cannon. To see how Shalia achieved this look, check out her tutorial below.
How To Decorate a Christmas Tree
Follow these 4 steps:
- Fluff the tree.
- Get your lights right.
- Add your picks. I use 7 different kinds to get the look I like! I get my picks at Hobby Lobby when they are half price!
- Start working in your ornaments, starting with the largest ornaments first.
- Add your ribbon. You’ll need to use wire ribbon. I like to use two different colors.
Holiday Mantel Decor

Shaila’s “Merry Christmas” garland is a bestseller. It looks perfect on her new modern fireplace mantel.

Shalia and Sandi created similar centerpieces using candlesticks, mixed greenery, and pinecones. She keeps her holiday decor pretty neutral and minimal. Her elegant dining room looks beautiful decked out for the holidays. In general, both Sandi’s and Shalia’s homes have a limited paint palette of black, gray, and white.

Master Bedroom

A bedroom isn’t ready for the holidays without twinkle lights and a tree! Shalia’s keeps a pretty clean, minimalist aesthetic. She doesn’t like clutter and her Master Bedroom is no exception. Her large bay window is the perfect place for a tree.
